Wedding Anniversary Getaway
26 September 2017Have just returned from a relaxing weekend getaway at Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary. The Retreat comprises of about 13 individual cottages tucked away in the rainforest at the end of Upper Crystal Creek Road approx 20kms west of the closest large town of Murwillimbah.
Our cottage was called Booyong & was completely private. We could not see any of the other cottages, all we could see was the rainforest out of the huge glass windows in the lounge, bedroom & bathroom. The cottage was attractively lit up with all the comforts of home. The luxurious bathroom was huge with a large spa bath surrounded by 3 glass walls overlooking the lush rainforest, an open shower & underfloor heating & heated towel rails. At night you could switch on an outside light which highlighted the rainforest. Our king sized bed was located on a mezzanine level & was very comfortable. The lounge room had a huge fireplace stocked with logs but unfortunately we could not use it as the weather was quite warm the weekend we stayed. On the deck there was a BBQ, 2 daybeds & a table & chairs.
We booked the Romance package which included 2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfast & 2 dinners as well as a bottle of wine. We chose our meals & ordered them by email a few days before. When we arrived on the Fri night our dinner & our breakfast the next morning was already in the fridge. The following night’s dinner & breakfast for Sunday morning were delivered into our fridge on the Sat afternoon. Our dinners just needed to be heated up in the microwave & we cooked our breakfasts each morning on the spotlessly clean BBQ on the deck.
There is a Games Room centrally located near Reception where you can play a game of pool or table tennis or choose a movie from the hundreds on offer. The property boasts about 4 bush walks & you are kitted out with a walking stick (a must have if you are walking up to the Lookout) plus a supply of Bushmans to spray on your shoes to deter the leeches. We climbed up to the Lookout which is described as strenuous & they are not joking it really is strenuous but once at the top there are beautiful views out to the coast & a bench seat to sit on as well.
There is also a rock strewn creek with pools big enough to take a dip in with 4 hammocks stretched across the water. A beautiful place to relax, read a book & let your cares drift away.
We were sorry to leave this fantastic location & wished we could have stayed another night. This is not a cheap place to stay but would recommend Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat for that special time away celebrating a special occasion or as a ‘getaway’ from the business of life. This place will certainly recharge the batteries. Just peace & quiet & time to focus on each other.
The most relaxed we have ever felt
22 September 2017We staying a few weeks ago for 5 nights for our honey, and it was the most relaxed we have ever felt. After the craziness a wedding could bring and also having a child ourselves, it was nice to go to a beautiful place like Crystal Creek to unwind and rejuvenate! We stayed in Satinash and it was so beautiful! Being amongst all that natural beauty was magical! Thankyou for an amazing stay, we will definitely be back again!!
Luxurious and peaceful accommodation
21 September 2017They think of everything there: very nice breakfast if needed, and the lodge itself has all the trimmings you can hope for, including a romantic jacuzzi with great views of the rainforest. It’s tucked away a bit from Murwillumbah (a 20/25 minute drive). The walks you can do are at times quite steep, but highly rewarding. Not cheap, but definitely worth it.
The perfect romantic getaway
2 September 2017We had an amazing romantic getaway at Crystal Creek. The cabins in the rainforest are a slice of paradise. With a woodfire, a spa, kitchen and a swimming pool all overlooking the lush rainforest, what more do you need? Oh yeah food can also be delivered to you in your private cabin. The food was amazing. Love Crystal Creek!
Highlight of our honeymoon!
20 August 2017Wow where do I even start, this place was the ultimate relaxation/romantic spot we were on our way home after 6 hectic weeks in Ireland and America and this place didn’t disappoint! We stayed three nights in the Byron lodge on the honeymoon package and honestly no pictures do the view justice even from the bath the view is overwhelming! A trip to the glow worms at night is a must we even seen some fireflies! The staff were amazing, welcoming and professional even allowing us to check in early! The food that is supplied is top notch and we struggled to eat it all! We had a picnic in the orchard one of the days and had it all to ourselves! We brought a stock of our own wine and brought some DVDs from their massive library and just spent our nights in front of the fire! Would definitely recommend for a couples get away! We can’t wait to come back!
A haven among havens
18 August 2017We have friends who travel worldwide quite a bit and describe the best places they have ever seen in terms of the Wow factor. One Wow is great, two Wows fantastic and three Wows, as in Wow, Wow, Wow, truly fantastic. Well hello guys, my wife and I have just discovered our own three Wow spot – and we didn’t have to fly halfway across the planet to find it.
The investment by the owners of this retreat pays dividends. We stayed in one of the Mountain View lodges and, given we had done plenty of research into what we might expect, were still staggered by the attention to detail, luxurious appointments, superb ambience, and THAT view.
A wonderful four days with a super log fire to offset the winter chill, room service meals available if required, a BBQ and full cooking facilities for self-caterers, stunning rainforest walks a few steps away, and an amenities room with hundreds of DVDs to take out.
A super spot.
We will be back.
Indescribable
6 August 2017Wow what a place. We stayed at the Byron mountain lodge for 3 nights (the honeymoon package) what an absolutely fantastic time. We had just finished a hectic 6 weeks getting married and travelling around the US, so we decided to finish the honeymoon here. It was amazing, from arrival (a short drive from Gold Coast airport) we were greeted by friendly staff who made us feel immediately at home. We checked in early and this was no issue. The lodge was something else it’s impossible to describe (just go check it out stop reading this review and book your stay). The food was amazing, and brought to the room, they had a DVD library which was at least 1000 strong so we spent the evenings and days relaxing with some wine, and movies in between enjoying the nature (including the glow worms). You have made an absolute sanctuary and we can’t wait to go back.
Crystal Creek RR is Amazing
5 August 2017This is the second time we have stayed at CCRR and we cannot recommend it highly enough! If you want get away for the most relaxing time, this is the place to go!
Mark, Stephan and the team make your stay absolutely amazing! Make sure your order the wonderful meals and just relax. Hiking around the property is a great way to enjoy your day. The lodge’s are such that you can spend days here without seeing anyone one else yet you are not without the all of the modern conveniences! Stay and enjoy, we will be back again!
Lovely secluded getaway
27 July 2017We had a long weekend at CCRR and loved it, the submerged bath with the rainforest view was superb, provided bath salts as well is something many places miss but they didn’t. The use of the small candles around made it cosy and the way the dinners are available to you to heat yourself is genius! We like having wines and eating later which this arrangement allowed us to warm our dinner whenever we wanted, without leaving the bungalow or having to deal with a restaurant. The dinners were great, loved all of them. We also had the picnic which was so well put together and a good choice of healthy options.
We did the long walk to the lookout which was knackered get on the way up (take water!) but the view was good and the exercise got the heart beating.
The team at CCRR are great, helpful, and lovely to deal with.
Would highly recommend. Wish our stay was longer :)
Tip – take a good stock of your own wine and stay in and relax!
Return guests
25 July 2017This was our second trip to CCRR and it did not disappoint! We absolutely love it here and were so happy to return. We stayed in the Numinbah Lodge again and it was just how we remembered it … perfect.
Thanks to Mark and team for welcoming us back and for the bottle of Moët!
The food we ordered was all delicious, we had the seafood basket for dinner and bacon and eggs brekkie.
Already looking forward to coming back for a third time.
Wonderful weekend of romance in the rainforest
25 July 2017From the moment we drove into the driveway, we felt like we’d escaped into paradise! It’s absolutely perfect We had the best weekend of our lives!! Thankyou CCRR for every little detail you put into making our 25th wedding anniversary so special. This place is unbelievably beautiful and the romance is endless! Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer (or visit sooner!) but then again, we would never want to leave!! The food was amazing (even though a little too much!), the Cedar Lodge was gorgeous and a real slice of heaven deep in the rainforest. If you want a place to really connect with your partner and truly escape from the world then Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat ticks all the boxes ✅ ❤️
Secluded retreat in stunning rainforest
15 July 2017We spent a couple of nights here just relaxing and taking walks in the beautiful forest all around the retreat. It was sheer heaven to spend time in such a gorgeous outdoor environment, and then to unwind in the luxurious lodge. We didn’t see or hear any other visitors during our stay, as we ate on our deck, read, ate the delicious meals overlooking rainforest or watched DVDs curled up on the sofa. Total bliss, worth every penny.
Anniversary
25 June 2017Best accommodation ever. Secluded, private, sexy, spacious, spa, outdoor plunge pool, all set in a rainforest. Walk to the lookout was VERY strenuous (& we’ve done an ironman and consider ourselves reasonably fit!!). 2 nights is plenty but three would be good!!!
Simply Brilliant Luxury
15 June 2017Stayed here for Wedding Anniversary long weekend getaway. My husband booked Lamington Lodge overlooking rainforest mountain. Everything was superb! Accommodation outstanding, spacious, comfortable & beautifully designed. All meals divine, fireplace ready, dinner ready in fridge as organised. Rainforest breathtaking, interior & exterior lighting perfect as well as loads of candles. Totally Private top shelf No Work luxury getaway. Would return & recommend in a heartbeat.
Perfect in every way
10 June 2017I took my partner to stay in the Byron mountain view lodge as a birthday surprise. Absolutely everything had been thought of and the state of the art accommodation exceeded our expectations. Complete privacy and luxury. Beautifully and cleverly designed with stunning wooden furniture and sleek modern architecture. The breakfast basket was delicious but we took our own food for the rest of our meals as the kitchen and BBQ are excellent quality with everything you need. The fancy automatic electric loo kept making me jump tho ;) stunning views, amazing fire, fantastic spa bath… Would definitely come back.
