Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat is in the rainforest hinterland of Northern New South Wales

Just south of the NSW/Queensland border the Retreat is secluded in the rainforest where the Tweed Valley ends, and the mountains begin. The 250-acre private estate is protected on three sides by the world heritage-listed Numinbah Nature Reserve and Springbrook National Park at 201 Booka Road, Upper Crystal Creek NSW 2484 (via Murwillumbah).

Fly into Gold Coast Airport

It is easy to fly direct into the Gold Coast Airport from many Australian and a variety of international locations. In Australia, fly in via Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar.

Your luxury escape can begin at the airport, our Private Driver service will greet you, assist with your luggage, and ensure your relaxed arrival at the retreat. We are located a pleasant 50-minute country drive from the airport. Our driver can also pick you up from another location to suit your itinerary.

If you prefer to self-drive, choose a rental car from Avis, Hertz, Budget, Sixt or Europcar.

For guests with EVs, we have newly installed complimentary recharge facilities.

Driving from Brisbane to Crystal Creek

We offer the perfect couples’ getaway from Brisbane, at just over a 2-hour drive. The quickest route down is via the M1 that runs direct from the city and follows the sunshine coast south.

Just over the QLD/NSW border, and passing Gold Coast Airport, turn off the M1 onto Tweed Valley Way, providing a scenic drive along the Tweed River towards Murwillumbah.

The last 25 minutes are especially spectacular, as you drive right through the middle of the sugar cane fields that provide the Condong Sugar Mill throughout the year, and north towards the magnificent backdrop of the Springbrook mountain range.

A more scenic alternative route down from Brisbane, which takes about 2hr 20min, winds over Tamborine Mountain and through Lamington & Numinbah National Parks, following Routes 92 & 97.

This route is a little wigglier but offers a quieter and more picturesque drive and showcases the natural beauty of the hinterland.

Accessing the Retreat during very wet weather

The Retreat is easily accessible by any standard vehicle however our entry does feature some shallow creek crossings, these are generally not adversely affected by rainfall.

Our access is only occasionally impacted by heavy rain and then only for a very short time. In these instances, we will be in communication with our guests and advise our temporary access arrangements. Please call ahead at any time to discuss any rainfall access concerns.
