An exceptional experience!
27 January 2016Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat was an amazing find, truly a needle in a haystack. We were needing to book a relaxing retreat at the last minute and were expecting to find only substandard accommodation in the lead up to Christmas & New Year. However this place is truly a gem and excellent value for money. Each bungalow has all the essentials for a quiet retreat that you hope for – a beautiful bedroom and bathroom as well as the small but special details added – a complimentary bottle of good red wine, chocolates and rose petals, that add that special romantic feel. We were made to feel very relaxed and welcomed the minute we arrived, by Mark the manager, who is very down to earth and personable. We would absolutely return and cannot recommend this property highly enough, to enjoy a relaxing escape from reality.
The epitome of relaxation!
11 January 2016My husband and I chose to stay at Crystal Creek for our 10th wedding anniversary – and we were not disappointed!
We booked into a luxury lodge, the Numinbah. This lodge was PERFECT. Numinbah Lodge is the highest of all lodges and offered absolute privacy. The view from the room was stunning. We loved how the scenery felt like part of your room – while relaxing in bed, sharing a meal, enjoying a swim or even having a long bath.
The lodge included an infinity edge solar heated pool, which was surprisingly deep. The solar heating made the pool lukewarm. On our second day it was mostly overcast which did make a difference – but we made the most of the bath instead!
We had ordered dinner and breakfast hampers and had them delivered to the room prior to our arrival. The food was delicious. We supplemented with our own food and used both the kitchen facilities and the BBQ, which were all quite easy to use. Having a Nespresso machine in your room was also good – although I had trouble working out which pod was stronger.
The lighting in the lodge was very well planned. From having down lights around the lodge and up lights recessed into the flooring, to a coloured light in the pool and up lights on the surrounding gardens and tree. The outdoor and garden lighting gave a real depth of view in the dark.
I loved how the retreat owners have thought of everything. From umbrellas in the main carpark and at your front door for those wet days to a cupboard stocked with sunscreen, mosquito repellent, coils and more.
One of my favourite memories from our stay was the smell of the amenities – lemon myrtle. The little soaps gave off an amazing scent!
It is also worth noting that the room has roll down blinds on many of the windows which dull the sunlight in the early morning. And the toilet now has a door :)
Room Tip: Numinbah & Springbrook are the highest, and most private, of the mountain view lodges, but also the oldest (still like new though)
Romance in paradise
27 December 2015Complete escape to a romantic 5 star wilderness paradise. Words cannot describe the experience, can only be felt once there. The most romantic hidden honeymoon destination without the distractions except nature’s wonder and healing.
What a way to Relax
18 December 2015We needed to get away from the extreme bustle of life for a while. We chose this place because it look far enough away from civilization but close enough if needed.
This place is a hidden gem. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the rainforest view lodges. We looked out over the tree tops down the valley. It was as if we were the only people there and living in the lap of luxury. The place is perfectly appointed and the staff make sure that you are not disturbed unless you want to. There is no restaurant on site so you pre-order you meals for a set menu and these are delivered daily. All we had to do was heat in the microwave or cook on the barby. Food was delicious. The stay isn’t cheap but it is value for money. It is a place that I would put on my must return to list.

16 November 2015This is an absolutely stunning location. You are surrounded in completely uninterrupted rainforest, natural creeks and wildlife. We spent 3 nights here for our honeymoon with the food packages. The food was delicious, and the staff managed to slip in and out to drop off meals without us noticing. We only seen 1 person on check out even with our walks around the property.
The room is second to none with a rain shower head, a double spa and the solar heated infinity pool on the deck. You go here for the seclusion. We had a towel change on the 3rd day, if you stay 4 nights or more they do a full room turn down so any less than that they do provide everything you need to keep the place tidy.
Highly recommend CCRR for couples. 1 night definitely wouldn’t be enough – 3 was just right. We will 100% be returning.
Beyond expectation
22 February 2015We stayed for five nights in a Creekside Bungalow (Quandong). This is a truly rare place where the reality exceeds the expectation. One of the most beautiful and peaceful places we have been. The accommodation was wonderful (though we did sneak a peak at the Mountain Lodge and will book there next time – it looked amazing), the atmosphere of total seclusion and privacy was great. The bath and bedroom being almost all glass was a wonderful relaxing and open experience. We self catered which was fine, the cabin had everything we needed. We did the walks, and they are a good challenge. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Wifi was marginal, but we didn’t go there to stuff about on the internet.
