The gourmet meals at this romantic retreat, in the northern rivers on the tweed coast hinterland are served and delivered in an informal way, to allow guests, the luxury to create their own timetable so they can enjoy a private and convenient dinning experience.
At crystal creek rainforest retreat we are committed to providing a very high standard in everything we do and this includes our meals. Our meals are delivered in such a way as to allow guests to decide their own meal times, from late afternoon to late at night; you don't have to stress to meet a time line, you don't have to dress for dinner, meals are unhurried and in the private setting of your own bungalow at your leisure. You will not be confronted by other people, staff or guests - we are, after all, a retreat with the emphases on couples spending quality, private and uninterrupted time with each other.
All the meals, breakfasts, lunches and dinners are delivered between 2-4 pm. In the gourmet dinner range, these are fully cooked, served in ceramic terrines and put into your fridge, with all the condiments, breads, salads, desserts etc and are ready to heat and serve at your leisure.
In the gourmet hamper range the meals are fully pre-prepared with all the condiments, breads, salads, desserts etc and ready for you to add the final touches, which will include tossing the meat portions on a hot BBQ. With the exception of the two Cooked Seafood Platters. All of our bungalows are self contained, with full sized kitchens and a private deck with a top of the range stainless steel BBQ. You can choose to bring your own supplies and stir fry in your own kitchen, barbecue al fresco on the veranda, picnic under the giant fig tree by the creek or carry a hiker's pack to the lookout ...

Gourmet Dinners private candle lit dining, in your bungalow at your leisure
All the meals included in packages are gourmet dinners, please see the menu below for your selections. You may upgrade to gourmet hampers. These superb dinners are prepared by Chef Jenny Breen with premium fresh local and Australian produce for your fine dining experience. Our gourmet dinners are prepared with fresh salads, fresh bread and desert cake of the day. Just one or two portions of each meal, served in ceramic terrines, need to be popped into the microwave for three minutes and these are ready to eat in the intimacy of your bungalow, at a time of your convenience; in your private cabin. These dinners are delivered in the afternoon, come with heating instructions and we are always being told how wonderful they are.
Chicken and Leek Stroganof with bacon - $80 per couple -
Tender chicken breast with caramelized leeks, smoky bacon, mushrooms, celery and capsicum. In a butter and pure cream, olive, white wine, parsley, shallot and garlic sauce. Served with rice, fresh broccoli and peas in garlic butter plus Ciabatta and dessert cake of the day.
Red Curry with roast Haloumi and cashews - $80 per couple - Vegetarian
This is a mild Thai style curry full of vegetables and lots of flavour. Pan roasted Haloumi and Cashews in a red curry and coconut base with a variety of seasonal vegetables which could include eggplant, onion, cabbage, capsicum, carrot, sweet potato, beans, peas, zucchini, cashews, ginger, garlic, cornflour, salt, pepper and a little chilli. Served with rice noodles, extra chilli and yogurt on the side plus Ciabatta and dessert cake of the day.
Traditional English Beef Stew - $80 per couple
A rich brown stew of prime steak, pan roasted with onions and then slow cooked with celery, carrots, a little red wine, a touch of Chilli, Worcestershire sauce, Soy sauce, oregano and paprika. A hearty meal for the meat eater. Served with new potatoes and peas, Ciabatta homemade tomato relish, sour cream and chilli on the side. Plus dessert cake of the day.
Mussuman Beef Curry - $80 per couple
Prime diced beef, sweet potato & onions slow cooked in homemade Mussuman curry paste and coconut milk. Served with Jasmine rice, raita salad, plus chili & chutney on the side and dessert cake of the day.
Creamy Garlic Seafood Medley - $80 per couple.
Fresh fish fillets & local prawns sauteed with onion and garlic in butter & oil. Along with zucchini, shallots, tomatoes, Lemon Coriander, cream, fresh garden veggies, white wine, sugar, salt & pepper. This seafood medley is a temptation that you cannot refuse. Served with Jasmine rice, green garden salad, Ciabatta and dessert cake of the day.
Moroccan Chicken with Cous Cous - $80 per couple
A Moroccan stew with tender chicken thighs, red onion, tomato, red pepper, zucchini, garlic, herbs and spices. Served with Cous Cous, peas & broccoli. With Ciabatta, Harissa, chili and yogurt on the side. Served with dessert cake of the day.
Lamb Tagine with Cous Cous - $80 per couple
A Moroccan stew with prime tender lamb, red onion, tomato, red pepper, zucchini, garlic, herbs and spices. Served with Cous Cous, peas & broccoli. With Ciabatta, Harissa, chili and yogurt on the side. Served with dessert cake of the day.

Dinner Hampers and Breakfast Baskets
We offer the following gourmet hampers delivered to your bungalow. The hampers are fully prepared but you will need to cook the meat portions on your private barbecue. These may vary slightly depending on the availability of fresh seasonal produce. Vegetarian hampers are also available $85.
Healthy Breakfast Basket - $35 per couple
Fresh seasonal fruit, premium fruit juice, locally made toasted macadamia muesli, milk, yoghurt, wholesome multi grain bread, rainforest jam or honey, butter tea and coffee.
Bacon and Egg Breakfast Basket - $35 per couple
Old fashioned, real hand cooked, double wood smoked bacon. Roma tomato with herb seasoning, local free range eggs, mushrooms with dill butter and good quality, local sausages, milk, wholesome multi grain bread, butter, tomato, tea and coffee.
The bacon is hormone, antibiotic, chemical and MSG free.

A selection of quality cheeses [depending on availability] including Australian Camembert, Edam, Blue and Cheddar plus Italian Pecorino and aged Italian Parmesan marinated fresh Australian olives, almonds & dried muscatels, fresh fruit, fig paste & crackers. Served with homemade chewy organic sough dough Spelt bread. This heavy European style bread has sunflower, coriander and caraway seeds in it.
Antipasto Platter - Vegetarian - $80 per couple
This is a lovely assortment of local and imported delicacies will easily replace a meal for two. Quality Australian Camembert, Italian Pecorino and aged Italian Parmesan. Fresh Australian marinated olives, picked vegetables, ‘roasted Asparagus' heads in Extra Virgin Olive oil, served with a fresh finger salad, various condiments, premium waterthins and homemade chewy organic sough dough Spelt bread. Romantic Picnics Hikers picnic pack $60 per couple.
Like all meals picnics need to ordered in advance. We freshly prepare the picnics and refrigerate them to keep them cool and fresh. They need to collected any time after 11 am from the reception. At which time we put them into a back pack for you to take on a walk. We have numerous and varied picnic spots including the orchard, private rock pools along the creek, under a 400 year old tree, beautiful mountain views and even an ocean view. There are also many stunning country drives in the area. We do advise that the picnic should eaten with in one hour of collection.

Cabin Cooking & Dining Facilities
The kitchens are fully equipped for all your gourmet dinning need with a four burner gas cook top and a convection/microwave oven. The Rainforest Canopy bungalows also have a full sized oven. All bungalows have a top of the range stainless BBQ on the private deck as well.
Kitchen provisions include: tea towels, dish washing detergent, place mats and napkins, coffee plunger, wine, champagne and beer glasses, crockery, cutlery and all cooking and barbeque utensils, tea, good coffee, salt, pepper and pure drinking water on tap.
